We had a fairly complicated drainage issue on the site, but Antonio came up with a solution and executed it perfectly. The workmanship was top quality, and there were no unexpected surprises along the way.
Antonio runs a very professional small business. Friendly, punctual and hard working. Built 2 retaining walls and remodelled our driveway paving. Would use Antonio's service again.
Antonio and his colleague did a great job with our backyard brick laying. Easy to deal with, on time and professional.
Antonio just completed some brick paving alongside our front fence. The paving looks fabulous and was completed in 2 days. He was reliable and the work was completed to a high standard.
Antonio cleared out our small backyard, laid some pavers and built a step around our existing deck. He was quick to respond, well priced, and was happy to change and vary the scope of works as needed.
Hampton East has post-war homes, townhouses and new builds on medium blocks, with many families upgrading driveways and outdoor areas at the same time.
Sandy soil drains well but needs containment and compaction. We use firm edge restraints on every job so paving stays tight and level.
Porcelain and travertine suit alfresco areas; charcoal pavers and exposed aggregate suit driveways. Near the coast, sealing natural stone helps it resist salt and staining.
Demolition, excavation, a well-contained compacted base with firm edges, bedding, laying, cutting and joint filling, then a wash-down. Most driveways take four to six working days.
For townhouse developments we pave to the approved plans, match levels at each garage and boundary, and coordinate with the builder so paving goes in at the right stage.
Hampton East is in the City of Bayside. Any change to the vehicle crossing between the footpath and the road needs a council permit, and new stormwater must connect to a legal point of discharge — we plan both on the first site visit. As a guide (inc GST): a 40m² paved driveway is about $5,600–$8,800 and a 25m² travertine alfresco about $4,500–$7,000.
Near the Nepean Highway and the Highett border, townhouses are common; toward Hampton, larger family homes with pools. Antonio measures up himself and gives a written fixed price.
Hampton East (3188) is in the City of Bayside. The jobs we quote most here are driveways, alfresco areas, pool surrounds and side paths. The ground is mostly sandy bayside soil, so containment, compaction and firm edges matter most. Every quote is free, written and fixed after Antonio has measured up on site.
Hampton East has post-war homes and many new townhouses between Bluff Road and Nepean Highway. Bluestone suits the clean lines of new builds, and travertine is a favourite for small courtyards. For Hampton East homes we often combine the two: bluestone steps, edges and pool coping with a travertine terrace, which keeps the look calm and consistent. Bluestone is a dense Victorian basalt that wears slowly and looks better with age. Travertine is a softer-coloured natural stone that stays cooler underfoot in summer. Near the bay we choose dense stone and seal it so salt and sand don't mark the surface, and we set every piece on a firm, well-compacted base. Both stones should be sealed with a penetrating sealer to resist stains, then resealed every few years. Every stone job gets a fixed written price after a free site visit. Bluestone paving is $190–$300/m² and travertine $180–$280/m² including GST, fully installed with excavation, base and clean-up. See our bluestone and travertine pages for finishes and photos.
Hampton East's sandy soil drains well, making permeable paving a good choice for driveways on these increasingly busy blocks. The surface looks like a normal paved driveway, but the joints and the base let rain soak through, which cuts puddles and runoff to the street. Driveway stormwater has to reach the legal point of discharge for your block, which the City of Bayside can confirm, and any new or wider crossover needs a council permit. For new homes and units, Victorian planning rules also expect at least 20% of the site to be left permeable, and permeable pavers can help meet that. On sandy ground the open-graded base drains quickly, so the main job is holding the edges firmly. Keep the joints topped up with the right aggregate and sweep leaves off in autumn so the surface keeps draining. Permeable paving is $150–$220/m² including GST, fully installed with the open-graded base. Read more about permeable paving in Melbourne.
On Hampton East's sandy ground, pavers move when edges aren't restrained. We rebuild the base, add proper edges and re-lay the pavers. We fix sunken pavers, tree-root lifting, rocking pavers, spreading edges, broken pavers and joints that have lost their sand. We find the cause first — a weak base, water from a downpipe, roots or missing edges — then lift the affected pavers, rebuild the base and put the same pavers back. If you notice a dip, a rocking paver or water sitting on the paving after rain, get it looked at early — a small repair in Hampton East costs far less than a large one once the base has washed out. Every repair comes with a 1-year workmanship warranty, written into your quote. Re-laying existing pavers costs $90–$150/m² including GST, with a $1,000 minimum job — usually much less than new paving, because your existing pavers are reused.
