Ashwood is a quiet, established suburb of post-war weatherboard and brick homes, with a growing number of townhouse and knock-down rebuild projects. Blocks are generally flat to gently sloping, and many still have the original narrow concrete driveway running down the side of the house to a garage or carport at the back.
