The surface looks like a normal paved driveway, but the joints and the base let rain soak through, which cuts puddles and runoff to the street. Before a new driveway goes in, check two things with the City of Knox: the permit for any change to the vehicle crossing, and the legal point of discharge where your stormwater has to go. For new homes and units, Victorian planning rules also expect at least 20% of the site to be left permeable, and permeable pavers can help meet that. Keep the joints topped up with the right aggregate and sweep leaves off in autumn so the surface keeps draining.
